As part of the Schools Framework with Bowmer + Kirkland, Allied Glazing Systems has been awarded the contract to design, manufacture and install all of the windows, doors and curtain walling to Leigh Academy in Rainham, Kent.

Bowmer + Kirkland secured a place on the government’s £8bn framework for the construction of new schools in England, which means they are able to bid for future work from the Department for Education to roll out its programme of new school buildings across the country. Allied Glazing Systems is already working with the team on a number of these projects including Cherry Fields Primary School in Banbury and the Harris Academy in Wimbledon.

The Academy will be a mixed 11-18 comprehensive school catering for the demand for secondary school places and will help reduce travel distances for local students. CPMG Architects has designed the new building in a way that complements the neighbouring conservation area, and once completed it will be a high quality, inspirational and sustainable place to teach and learn.

The project will include fantastic sports facilities that will be available for community use outside of school hours, also featuring black stained timber cladding reflecting the agricultural heritage of the area with dashes of bright colour to enhance the contemporary design.

Pure Windows, SF52 Curtain Walling and SPW501 Commercial Doors from Allied Glazing Systems’ trusted partner Senior Architectural Systems have been specified for this project due to their thermal performance, stylish and sleek appearance and ease of fabrication. These will complement the elements of colour throughout the building which adds to the vibrant aesthetic provided by CPMG Architects.

Bowmer + Kirkland started on site in April 2020 constructing the new multi-million-pound purpose built facilities and the Allied Glazing Systems’ team is excited to start the installation work in September 2020 for four to six weeks in preparation for building completion in September 2021.
